"Invest in the human soul. Who knows, it may be a diamond in the rough."

Organizational Overview
MBA is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of ten members
from Lynchburg and surrounding counties. It employs an Executive Director,
an Administrative Assistant, three Teachers, three Teachers' Assistants,
a Transportation and Maintenance Manager, a Van Attendant, a Dietician, and a Housekeeper.
Board Of Directors
The Board of Directors of MBA acts in the best interest of
the school and staff in maintaining quality programming and ensuring financial
responsibility. The Board plays an important role in the overall decision making and
establishment of policies.
It also serves as a supportive governing board that works closely with the
Executive Director in overseeing the proper operation of the school and the execution
of established policies. Board members are selected based on their commitment
to children and their expertise and experience in the business field.
Staff
In order to provide maximum
opportunities in early development for the
children, a program is planned and executed by a
trained, qualified staff. These staff members
possess the understanding of children's
developmental needs. On-going staff development is
accomplished through regular training. Staff
members frequently attend workshops to develop new
ideas for improving their classes and familiarize
themselves with techniques to enhance each child's
day.
Bethune has volunteers from the
Foster Grandparent Program and the Area Agency on
Aging as well as local colleges to assist the
teachers. Staff retention is an important asset
for Bethune. Our Foster Grandparent is 88 years
old, has been at Bethune for 26 years and still
performs her duties as well as ever. Bethune is
fortunate to have seasoned staff members who have
been loyal employees for 5 - 24 years. Only 5
employees have been at Bethune less than 5 years.
